PINHOE CHURCH
Pinhoe now a suburb of Exeter, is located approximately 2.5 miles from the centre of Exeter. The village was once seperated from Exeter, and was the subject of Viking attack in the year 1001. The vikings sailed ships up the River Exe. Supposedly the church vicar rode to Exeter on a donkey, in a desperate bid to get more arrows. However, this proved fruitless, as the Vikings pretty much burnt the village to the ground! The legend goes on to say that the vicar earned a yearly pension of 16 shillings, for his gallantryThe 15th century Church of St. Michaels & All Angels is located at the top of a hill, with superb views of the City of Exeter.
